This was taken back in February when I was on vacation. I made my parents get up early so we could do this hike. It was a great day. Cathedral Rock is always a busy hike and I was glad to share this day with my parents.

I may be smiling but I cried before I got there. I may be smiling but I cried before I got there.

We hiked this mountain a while back but it's taken until now to write about it. This is the summit at 5040 Peak. We did this hike by ourselves which isn't the first time we have done a solo hike but it was an emotional one. We decided to do this hike last minute. The road up to it was rough and by the time we started it was the afternoon.

On our ascent I cried. When you hike alone you start to think a lot as there isn't anyone to preoccupy your thoughts. I started to think about my cousin Michael. How much I miss him and how he won't get to experience something like this. Then my grandfather and how I won't get to spend time with him anymore. I've found my grief this past year has come in waves. One moment I'm happy then the next my eyes are watering. It's okay to not be okay. I may be smiling in this photo as I was happy I did this but just know it was a struggle and I almost turned back at the beginning.

Even if we don't get to talk to you as often or perhaps we've only chatted once or twice - we want you to know that you are important. You matter and you are loved.
